Our literary review process is a little different from most journals. We don't keep our contributors in the dark about the status of their work. Instead, we allow members access to the web site's back end, where they can see what the editors think about their pieces, and comment back to us as appropriate. After all, you know we develop an opinion about your work—why shouldn't you hear it?
Here's what some of our members have to say about the system:
From Jennifer Smither:
I thank you for your comments and will look much more closely at those first three stanzas in 'January' because of your reactions. Your system for providing comments and feedback is great, and I wish you the best of luck with your inaugural issue. I look forward to reading it!From Danni Gaylord:
I just took out the lines you suggested, and I really like the way it works now. And since this is my first experience with Third Reader, let me say I love the quick response, and the specific comments! Thank you very much. Our philosophy is to comment on almost every submission. We believe writers deserve to know what the editors thought about their work. Want the full story? Go to our Philosophy page and see.
